Emergency Services: Protecting Life, in
the air and on the ground as we perform missions for America |
Emergency Services is one of the three fundamental missions
of Civil Air Patrol. Emergency Services encompasses all
operations that do not fall under Aerospace Education or Cadet
Programs. Emergency Services is divided into several departments.
Operations is the parent command to ES, serving as the operations
arm of the commander. Subordinate departments include Counterdrug, Homeland
Security, Search and Rescue (SAR), and Disaster Relief (DR).
Emergency Services trains the members for operation as aircrew,
ground team, flight line operations, and mission staff.
Qualifications are earned as a 'specialty', which typically lasts
for three years. Each specialty has a listing of criteria
that is required to initially qualify, as well as continuing
experience in order to renew or remain current. These qualifications
are independent of pilot or senior training qualifications which
may be required for advancement or operation in other arenas
of the organization.
Emergency Services serves as the air branch of the New Mexico
Department of Public Safety Search and Rescue Division.
CAP participates as a member of the New Mexico Emergency Services
Council.
